Cross-country is the quieter alternative to alpine skiing

Cross-Country Skiing

Cross-country skiing is the quieter alternative to alpine skiing. Nonetheless, the benefits of this endurance sport should not be underestimated. Cross-country is ideal training for a well-toned body and exceptional physical condition. It is also in the more peaceful nature of this sport, that you will be able to appreciate the incomparable nature that surrounds you especially intensively. Perectly tracked cross-country trails are standard, both in the Schladming region as well as Ramsau am Dachstein. Incidentally – the "Nordic" region of Ramsau am Dachstein is located only a few minutes' drive from our hotel. So, what are you waiting for!

Nordic Walking

This popular trend "made in Finland" is easy to learn and, also in winter, a beautiful sporting experience out in the open countryside. This gentle endurance sport helps combat neck tension and aids weight loss. Furthermore, your immune and cardiovascular systems are given a real boost. At Hotel Hartweger, we give you expert tips, whilst we also offer rental poles if needed.

Winter hiking

Discover the region on numerous winter hiking trails. If you've ever trudged through knee-deep snow, you'll know that winter hiking can be very strenuous. So it's lucky that we keep 300 kilometres of hiking trails open in winter so that you can stroll effortlessly through the snowy landscape - accompanied by a magnificent mountain panorama. Some of the highlights are the 4-season trail on the Hochwurzen, the Kulmbergrunde in the Ramsau or the path through the Talbachklamm, which is illuminated in the evening.

Apart from skiing, tobogganing is probably the most popular sport in the region. No wonder, because the many runs invite you to have fun sledging at any time of day or night. If you like tobogganing during the day, you'll love night tobogganing. Especially on the toboggan run on the Hochwurzen, which is one of the longest toboggan runs in the Alps with a length of seven kilometres.
